Sunday Wird - Yawm al-Ahad of Shaykh Abdal Qadir Jilani

The Litany of Sunday Wird - Yawm al-Ahad (1st Day)

of Shaykh Abdal Qadir Jilani qaddas Allahu Sirrul Aziz

There is a Wird of each day of the week, it's read ideally in the morning or within the day of Sunday from Fajr to Maghrib. The Islamic day ends at Maghrib time.

Apart from the 7 day Wird of Shaykh Abdal Qadir Jilani qaddas Allahu Sirrul Aziz, there is also the Wird of each of the timings after each of the Salah, which is much longer then the Litany of Week.

So example you have Hizbul Fajr, Hizbul Dhuhr, Hizbul Asr, Hizbul Maghirb and Hizbul Isha. All the 5 Hizbs have been collected together as one big Hizb, called Hizbul Kabir Jilani.

So it's read as either at each interval of each Salah or all can be read as one and thus called Hizbul Kabir Jilani, caution its full of Suryani and this very powerful. Without proper ijaza please don't read it.

The way it's read is, either you read each of the Wird of the Salah and then the Litany of that day.

Methods of reading:

1. Part of the adaab, is to read Surah Iklas, Falaq and Nass, the first 5 ayats of Baqara and Ayatul Kuris and then read Litany of Sunday. if you cannot then at least read Surah al-Fatiha followed by Litany of Sunday.

2. Another Method is first reading Sunday section of Salawat al-Kubra Jilani which has been split into Seven parts followed by Reading Litany of Sunday.

3. Another Method is to read Hizbul Fajr followed by by Litany of that day.

Shaykh Ibn Arabi qaddas Allahu Sirru also has a 7 day Wird of both Morning and Evening Award to read.

The Litany of Sunday Wird - Yawm al-Ahad (1st Day)

In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

He is Allah; there is no god but He,

the Beautiful, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate,

the Gentle, the Tolerant, the Kind, the All-Pardoning,

the Guardian of Faith, the Supporter, the Responsive,

the Helper, the Ever-Near, the Swift, the Generous,

the Lord of Honor, the Lord of Might.

My Lord, clothe me with the Beauty of the Creator of the lights of loveliness,

in a manner fit to baffle the minds of the experts in cosmology.

We shall then direct ourselves toward the realities of created entities,

With the attention of essential love, which exerts an attraction

toward the vision of absolute Beauty,

which is not opposed by any ugliness,

and with which no cause of pain can interfere.

Cause me to be treated with compassion

by everyone who is compassionate,

in keeping with the loving affection

that is not mixed with any vengeful spite,

and that is not diminished by any angry feeling,

and the extent of which is not limited for any reason whatsoever.

Confer that in accordance with the everlastingness

of Your right of inheritance,

to an endlessness that no termination can bring to a close.

O All-Compassionate! He is the All-Compassionate.

O Lord, O Lord! O Helper!

O Hidden One, who does not appear!

O Manifest One, who is not concealed!

Subtle are the secrets of Your most exalted being,

so You are seen in everything that exists,

and exalted are the lights of Your most holy manifestation,

for they appear in every visible object.

You are the All-Forbearing, the Benefactor of kindness and pardon,

Swift in forgiveness, the Refuge of the fearful,

the Supporter of those who seek help

the One who is Near through the obliteration

of the directions of nearness and distance

from the eyes of those who know by experience.

O Generous One! O Possessor of Majesty and Honor!

Praise be to Allah, Lord of All the Worlds!

Peace! a word of greeting from, a Lord All-Compassionate.

In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

He is Allah; there is no god but He,

the All-Forbearing, the All-Compassionate,

the Effective One, the Gentle One,

the Protecting Friend, the Praiseworthy,

the Ever-Patient, the Director, the All-Merciful.

My Lord, let me taste the coolness of Your clemency toward me,

so that I may take delight therein in all my spheres of being,

for then I shall witness nothing in the universe,

except that which necessitates my silence

and my feeling of contentment,

for You are indeed the Truth, and Your command is the truth,

and You are the All-Forbearing, the All-Compassionate.

My Lord, let me witness the absoluteness of Your agency

in everything that is done,

until I can see no agent other than You.

so that I may feel at peace beneath the current of Your decrees,

in willing compliance with every judgement and every state of being,

whether it pertains to the visible or the unseen world,

or belongs to the intermediate realm

O You who blow the spirit of Your command into every entity,

cause me to be affected, in every state,

by that which will transfer me from the darknesses of my creations.

Attach my doing, and the doing of all doers,

to the Oneness of Your doing.

Direct me, through the beautiful

and praiseworthy quality of Your information,

in all my undertakings.

Cause my self-will to vanish from me,

and enable me to endure with patience.

and guide me and have mercy on me.

Cause me to experience, O Gentle Bestower of providential care,

a special togetherness with You,

and confirm me in Your nearness,

in the presence of which there can be no loneliness,

O All-Merciful One, O Source of Peace!

And praise be to Allah, Lord of All the Worlds.

In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

My God, how Tolerant You are of those who disobey You!

How Near You are to those who call upon You

How Kind You are to those who beg of You!

How Tender You are with those who pin their hopes on You!

Who is there who has begged of You, only to have You deprive him?

Or has sought refuge with You, only to have You betray him?

Or has drawn close to You, only to have You send him far away?

Or has fled to You, only to have You expel him?

Yours is the creation and the commandment!

My God, would You see fit to torment us,

while the affirmation of Your Oneness is within our hearts?

I do not think that You would do so, but even if You did,

would You join us with a people we have long hated for Your sake?

So, by the one of Your Names that is kept concealed,

and by the part of Your Splendor that is hidden behind veils,

may You forgive this anxious soul,

and this uneasy heart, which cannot endure the heat of the sun,

so how could it endure the heat of Your Fire?

O All-Forbearing One, O All-Glorious One!

O All-Oenerous One, O All-Compassionate One!

OAllah, we take refuge with You from abasement, except before You,

and from fear, except of You,

and from poverty, except the need tor You.

O Allah, just as You have prevented our faces

from bowing in prostration before anyone but You,

prevent our hands from reaching out to beg from anyone but You.

There is no god but You. Glory be to You!

I have been one of those who do wrong. (21:87)

And praise be to Allāh, Lord of All the Worlds.

The Litany of Wednesday Wird Yawm al-Arba'a

In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

My God, Your infinite pre-existence has encompassed

my recent appearance, and not I.

The power of the light of Your Countenance has shone forth,

so it has illumined the frame of my humanity.

There is therefore nothing apart from You

so whatever is left of me, it is due to Your permanence,

and whatever has vanished from me,

it is due to my looking toward You,

for You are the Everlasting.

There is no god but You.

I beseech You by the letter Alif, when it comes at the beginning,

and by the letter haa, when it comes at the end,

and by the "Ha!" from me, when it turns into a Laam.

I beg You to make me extinct to me, in You,

so that the quality adheres to the Quality,

and the bond coincides with the Essence

There is no god but You,

O Ever-Living One, O Self-Sustaining One,

O Lord of Majesty and Honor.

May Allah bless our master Muhammad,

and his family and his Companions, one and all.

And praise be to Allah, Lord of All the Worlds.

This should be followed by fourteen repetitions of:

And praise be to Allah, to Him Alone.

Note: In the Arabic spelling, "Allah" begins with the letter Alif, and ends with the letter ha. The letter laam (written twice) comes between these two.
